ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION: HIGHPOWER TECHNOLOGY DISCUSSES FULL-SCENE APPLICATIONS AND DIVERSE NEEDS

      With the rapid rise of emerging industries such as low-altitude economy, humanoid robots and power tools around the world, Li-Ion technology has found more applications. At the same time, the new demands of emerging fields also require specific upgrades to Li-ion batteries. As a result, the materials and equipment supply chain needs to undergo corresponding changes.


      At the Roundtable Dialogue session of the 2024 GG LiPo Annual Conference, six business leaders initiated an in-depth discussion on full-scene applications and diversified needs. The Roundtable Dialogue was hosted by Dr Zhang Xiaofei, Chairman of GGLI, and was attended by a number of guests and business leaders, including Pan Danyu, Chairman of Highpower Technology.

DISCUSSION FOCUS I: NEW SCENES, NEW OPPORTUNITIES, NEW DEMANDS


Mr Pan Dangyu:

      Highpower Technology has always focused on customer needs in product development and production.The development prospects of the low-altitude economy are generally favourable and will become a new engine of economic growth. At present, it depends on local conditions for each city. Shenzhen is listed as a demonstration city first, and there is still some time to go before the general promotion, which provides us with the time to build up relevant abilities. Highpower Technology is also paying attention to the development policy of low-altitude economy and the application scenarios’s requirements for battery performance, safety and other aspects, and purposefully exploring and laying out cutting-edge technology.


      Li-ion batteries for two-wheeled vehicles will continue to grow at a rapid pace worldwide, driven by stricter emission reduction policies and increasing substitution rates for green travel.


      In addition, as consumers' pursuit of intelligence and portability drives the emergence of innovative products in the consumer electronics market and increases the demand for high-quality batteries, such as the continuous promotion of new products in the categories of AI PC, AI eyewear, AR and VR, Highpower Technology has cooperated with a number of renowned brands and accumulated a wealth of experience and capabilities.


      We believe that To B products must focus on the user experience and increase customer viscosity by providing one-stop solutions. In terms of new scenarios and new requirements, we will actively communicate with our customers to jointly explore new applications and market opportunities.


 

DISCUSSION FOCUS Ⅱ: THE MULTI-MARKET STRATEGY OF THE BATTERY COMPANY AND THE PRODUCT STRATEGY

      Highpower Technology has extensive experience in the battery industry. We always choose to work with the exellcent customers, targeting Fortune 500 companies and the top 10 brands in the segment. By working closely with our customers, we continuously improve the quality of our products and services to achieve sustainable development. In terms of differentiated market strategy, we will offer tailor-made products and services to meet the diversified needs of our customers according to market demand and customer characteristics.


DISCUSSION FOCUS Ⅲ: HOW TO CAPTURE OPPORTUNITIES IN EMERGING MARKET SEGMENTS


Mr Pan Dangyu:

      I consider in order to seize the opportunities in these emerging markets, companies need to have a keen understanding of the market and the ability to innovate. Only by identifying market needs and launching products and services that meet those needs in a timely manner can we gain market acceptance. At the same time, companies must continuously improve their technology and product quality to ensure that they stay ahead of the competition in the marketplace.


      In terms of several new technologies that the market is more concerned about, Highpower Technology has corresponding technical reserves. Steel shell lamination is an important direction to improve the energy density of consumer Li-ion batteries, the company conducts joint R&D with customers, targets the next generation of product demand for custom development, and is expected to be introduced to the market next year; regarding silicon-carbon anode batteries, we have completed the development of lithium-ion batteries with high silicon content and applied to wearable products. The next generation of silicon-carbon technology has signed a strategic agreement with strategic customers for customisation and joint R&D.


      With regard to solid-state batteries, the Future Technology Research Department of the Company's Research Institute is engaged in preliminary research, including in-house research and cooperation with universities. Quasi-solid-state products have reached mass production capacity, and all-solid-state products are under development. However, from the industry's overall progress, it takes time and the progress of industrial chain to achieve mass production, and ultimately it is essential to fall on the product safety and performance, such as energy density, cycle performance and other dimensions, to ensure the stable performance of the product at the terminal.


DISCUSSION FOCUS Ⅳ: MATERIAL COSTS AND SUPPLY CHAIN STABILITY


Mr Pan Dangyu:

      Highpower Technology attaches great importance to its supply chain and has a global presence to ensure business continuity and create value for its customers in the face of any difficult and challenging situation.


      Highpower Technology pays great attention to sustainable development and promotes ESG initiatives by building compliant corporate governance and high-quality industrial ecosystems, supporting carbon peak and carbon neutrality targets, and promoting low-carbon transformation. Highpower Technology has optimised production processes, improved resource utilization and recycling, implemented energy-saving projects such as waste heat recovery from air compressors, air-source heat pump heating, distributed photovoltaic power generation, etc., established an intelligent energy management system, participated in carbon trading, and formulated a greenhouse gas inventory methodology to promote carbon reduction throughout the value chain, which has been recognised by customers. We publish our ESG report in 2023, and as of 1 August 2024, we have an A rating and an industry ranking of 19/331 at Wind. 


      Highpower Technology is committed to working with the leading global brands on material recycling projects, contributing to the development of green energy, and has been awarded the title of 'Green Factory' by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China.
